Bad Specs - Let's Learn from Examples

Written by David Stutzman | 10/10/11 12:44 PM

Last week, a friend received a request for a bid from a Construction Manager. How the Construction Manager expected to get valid bids with the spec provided, escaped my friend and me.  See https://www.conspectusinc.com/blog/2011/10/self-inflicted_budget_difficulties.

Show Me the Worst
As a service to the industry, I invite all you contractors, subcontractors, distributors, product suppliers, and manufacturer's representatives to send your best examples of BAD SPECS with your comments about what makes them bad. Send entries to dstutzman@conspectusinc.com with Bad Specs in the subject line.

I will share the results, here on this blog, keeping the project and A/E anonymous. My staff and I will offer advice about how the specs should be improved to get fair, reliable bids.

So Here's Your Chance
Rather than complain about the state of the industry, send your examples, now. Let's start educating the industry so everyone benefits.
