Conspectus Receives Award from Construction Specification Institute

Louis Medcalf, FCSI, CCS, CDT and Elias Saltz, CSI, CCS, CDT, received the Outstanding Contribution Award at annual Construction Specification Institute (CSI) CONSTRUCT conference during the Honors and Awards Ceremony, which was hosted in National Harbor, MD on October 10th.
Construction Specification Institute Award
The award was given to each gentleman as an individual CSI member based on the commendable contributions each of them made to the Institute and members, by providing value-added service to their Chapter, Region, or the Institute. Medcalf also received the Board Chair Plaque from Ellen Kay Crews, CSI Chairman of the Board, for his exceptional work performed on behalf of the board. Currently there are approximately 7,500 members in the organization, and Medcalf was one of four people who received this special recognition. Conspectus president David Stutzman also received this honor.
Senior Specifiers Recognized
Medcalf, of Nashville, TN, was recognized for his meticulous preparation and impassioned participation in monthly webcast sessions of the CSI Specifying Practice Community since 2011. He has brought several experts from the construction industry into the discussions to provide their expertise, which improve specifications. He provides wit and solid facts to keep community members engaged and learning. Medcalf also holds the highest honor in the Institute as a Fellow.
Saltz, of Chicago, IL, was recognized for his contributions to the CSI Specifying Community and the 2019 North Central Region Conference, through his deep knowledge of systems, products, and details; and has created a well-rounded, comprehensive, educational experience for attendees and readers. Both of these gentlemen author technical tips and blog content on the Conspectus site.
These gentlemen also participate in CSI on local and regional levels. Saltz serves on the executive board, as treasurer in the Chicago Chapter. He also serves on the region level, in the North Central Region as treasurer, communications chair, website and newsletter editor. Medcalf has contributed at the chapter level on the education and additional committees throughout his career and on several national task teams. He has also served as the president of the Cincinnati and Memphis Chapters.
